Movie Review

Summer is here! With it, comes lots and lots of movie watching! For those of you who do not know me well, I LOVE to watch movies. Over the school year, I do not have the time to watch as many as I would like. When summer rolls around, I make up for lost time. Here is a run-down of the movies I have watched recently:

The Other Boleyn Girl with Natalie Portman, Scarlett Johansson and Eric Bana - If you like "period" dramas based around historical events, then you will like this one. I give this movie a B+, mainly because I personally like movies of this theme.

Evening with Toni Colette (love her), Claire Danes, Glenn Close and Meryl Streep - This movie takes you on a journey similar to "The Notebook" (one of my favorites). I give this movie a B+.

27 Dresses with Katherine Heigl - A cute love story about a girl who is never lucky in love. I give this one a B.

Transformers with unfamiliar actors (to me, anyway) - Interesting. What else can I say about a movie based on action figure toys? I give it a C, so it's not terrible.

Knocked Up with Katherine Heigl, Seth Rogan and Paul Rudd - I loved this one! It was pretty funny. It deserves an A.

The Nanny Diaries with Scarlett Johansson and Laura Linney - I wasn't sure what this movie was about when I picked it out. I ended up liking it a lot. I also fell in love with the name of the little boy, Grayer. This one gets a B+.

Lust, Caution - I gave this movie an F in the first five minutes of watching it. The trailer (preview) makes it look like an awesome movie. If you like to read subtitles the entire time, this is the movie for you. (The trailer does not indicate subtitles.)

Juno with Ellen Page, Michael Cera and Jason Bateman (love him) - This one's a comedy revolving around an unexpected teen pregnancy. Hilarious! This one gets an A+!

Slip and Slide

When is the last time you played on a "Slip and Slide?" For me, not counting Sunday, it's been years...No, maybe decades! On Father's Day, we played outside in the sun all day long. Ella got a Slip and Slide for her birthday earlier this year. We decided to set it up and have some family fun. I was happy just watching them play in the water. Eventually, I was talked into joining the slip and slide fun! We had a blast - but man, am I paying for it! Every muscle between my abs and rear are sore. Just to make an upward movement (like getting out of a chair or the bed) is painful. It's times like these that I feel old.

Happy Father's Day

Happy Father's Day to the two most important men in my life...

First, my Dad. Without you, I wouldn't be here today. Thanks for always being there when I needed someone to talk to. I went through some rough times in my adolescence - and you were always there to help guide me (even when I didn't even realize it).

Last but not least, to my husband. Thanks for making my dreams come true. You were there to convince me that true love can be a reality. From that, we have two beautiful, little girls that adore you. Happy Father's Day!

Nae Nae's Notes

* For as long as I can remember, I've had one dream that I vowed would become a reality. Today, we made it happen by signing a contract to put in a swimming pool. I've been working all week trying to finalize things with the bank on a Home Equity loan. I didn't realize there were so many different kinds of Home Equity loans to choose from. Now that all of the paperwork is finished, we must wait on the pool company to come and build my dream. I've waited for years for this pool. Never do I remember the waiting to be so torturous!

* K-Bugg got her first "big girl" haircut this week. Sure, she's had her hair trimmed before - but it's never been this short. She looks so cute and grown up. Because her hair was so long, someone suggested she donate her hair to Locks of Love. She was very excited about doing this. (I will post a picture later. I haven't downloaded them from my camera yet.)

* The pacifier is officially gone! For months, we've been talking about giving them away to a "new baby." On Tuesday, I helped Ella gather them all up and we took them to Baby Miley. Baby Miley is the newest baby in our neighborhood. She's not a newborn. She's actually 10 months old. But Ella didn't know the difference. She was completely fine with handing them over to Miley. It's funny to hear her rationalize her "paci" being gone. It's always around bed time. She mentions Baby Miley having her "pacies" - and always follows it up by saying, "Baby Miley is so cute." Never once has she asked for them back. I'm proud of my big girl! (FYI - I asked Miley's mother just to toss the pacifiers in the trash. Miley doesn't even take a paci.)

I am a mother, wife and full-time teacher, with a very sassy little girl (daughter 1) on my hands and another one following in her footsteps (daughter 2). And I wonder where the gray hairs are coming from?
