3 Months Old

Ella is three months old today. She smiles and "talks" all the time. She also started laughing this week. She is an angel. (By the way, this photo is actually her 2 month picture.)

So You Were Saying?

More Kellynn quotes...

After I asked who was in her VBS class:
"Mom...There are WAY too many boys in my class!"

After being told to "Get over it!":
"I will NOT get over it, MOTHER!"
(Yes, she called me "Mother." Why? I have no idea. I thought going from "Mommy" to "Mom" was heart breaking!)

The Evil Big Sister that Still Lies Within...

My sister posted a story on her blog the other day that made me think about growing up with two younger sisters. When thinking back to those younger years, I have to laugh out loud. Let me first say that I dearly love my sisters - but being the "big" sister, I was quick to "stick it to them" as often as possible. Even at 33, I still have those evil "big sister" tendencies!

Let's see...I made Kelly eat dirt on several occasions. Of course, she tried to get out of it, but I threatened her with the, "I won't play with you anymore if you don't eat it!" tactic. She always gave in! And when we played "house," she was always the Dad or the dog. What little girl wants to be the Dad or the dog?! When your big sister makes the rules, you have no choice!

I also made both of my sisters my own personal slave. For whatever reason, they were at my beckon call. If I needed something, they would come running. They loved to sleep in my bed at night. I don't know if it was the "big sister" thing and they wanted to be around me, or if they were scared at night - but of course, I took advantage of this too! I would make them rub my back until I fell asleep. As they got older, they got wise to this and would try to negotiate getting their own back rub. I agreed, but only if I got the last back rub!

I remember my youngest sister Jennifer, always trying to get attention when any of my friends or boyfriends would come over to visit. She would do cart wheels through the living room, or try to squeeze in between my boyfriend and myself on the couch. I used to get so mad at her. One time, my boyfriend came over and was helping me with some chores I had to do. We were outside shucking corn. (Yes, you read that correctly. I grew up on a farm.) My sister decided it was time to put on a show for my boyfriend. She started running around the yard, trying to get our dog to chase her. I kept telling her to get lost, but she wouldn't listen. Just about that time, she fell down and the dog jumped on her back and started to "dry hump" her from behind. Instead of helping my sister, I just laughed and laughed. She was maybe 8 or 9 at the time, with a 50-60 pound Rottweiler on her back! Sisterly love!

Being the big sister, I gave lots of "Atomic Wedgies." My poor sisters...I don't think they owned one pair of panties that wasn't ripped at the waist. And if they were around when I was folding clothes (one of my chores)?! I would be sure to find a pair of my Dad's tightie whities to shove on top of their heads! They especially loved that, I'm sure!

Needless to say, I was the evil big sister growing up. Even now, I still catch the evilness coming out in me. K-Bugg loves to wrestle with her Daddy (we watch UFC around here). When she tries to wrestle with me, I am famous for whipping out the "Atomic Wedgie!" (Don't worry...I'm gentle.) She hates wedgies. Kevin has said on many occasions, "I feel sorry for your sisters! I bet you tortured them growing up." I guess I did...

Sorry, Kelly and Jennifer! I really did love you - and still do!

Things Out of K-Bugg's Mouth...

In case you haven't noticed, it's been awhile since I've felt inspired to blog. I feel so guilty about it, because I love to read your blogs and look forward to reading your new posts. So as I sat down tonight to force myself to write something, I thought maybe I would recollect a few comments made by K-Bugg lately.

A Random Discovery
"Daddy, you weren't my daddy when you were in your mommy's belly."

Venting Frustration (because I wouldn't let her wear dirty shoes to the store)
K-Bugg: I'm angry at you, Mom!
NaeNae: Well I'm sorry...You can get glad in the same pants you got mad in! (And I wonder where the smartass comments come from?!)
K-Bugg: I'm NOT getting glad, Mom! I'm staying MAD! (as she stomps to her room, slams the door and screams)

Announcing Her Dissatisfaction with My Parenting Skills (while shopping at the grocery store)
K-Bugg: Can I have chocolate chip cookies?"
NaeNae: No, we have cookies.
K-Bugg: Can I have those chips?"
NaeNae: No.
K-Bugg: Can I have "Barbie" fruit chews?"
NaeNae: No, you have "Hello Kitty" fruit chews at home.
K-Bugg: Can we get caramel chocolate?"
NaeNae: No, we're not getting candy.
K-Bugg: You're a bad parent, Mom!
NaeNae: (thinking to myself...) WTF?! Where does this kid come up with this stuff?!

Randomness

I've been MIA for awhile. Sorry! I had a lot going on last week. It was the last week of school - and even though I'm out on maternity leave, I still had loose ends to tie up. Lots of paperwork! I'm finally finished. Yes!

I planted a garden about two weeks ago. So far it's doing well. I planted tomatoes, yellow squash, corn, zucchini, butternut squash, summer lettuce, spinach, and herbs.

Ella is growing like a weed! She had her 2 month check up last week. Oops! I forgot to post a 2 month picture! (I will add one later.) She weighed 12 lbs and 3 oz. She is smiling and "talking" all the time now. I love to watch her. When she gets excited, her little arms and legs start going all over the place! She thinks she can sit up, but of course, really can't. She's a good baby. I love her to pieces!

Kellynn is a mess! Most things coming out of her mouth these days, are direct quotes from either myself or Kevin. Take tonight, for example - she was taking her sweet time getting ready for bed. She had just taken a bath and was supposed to be getting dressed. Instead, she thought it would be funny to run around naked, "shaking her booty." After several reminders to get dressed, Kevin raised his voice and told her to get dressed or she would be going to bed without her "movie." (She likes to watch a DVD before going to bed.) Her reply? "Daddy?! Don't you DARE yell at me! It's NOT NICE! I don't yell at YOU!" (By the way, she was yelling while making this comment.) I just laughed - to myself, of course. Do you think she's heard this before?!

And finally, a sweet story about Kellynn to end the randomness of this post...

Last week, Kellynn and I went to the grocery store. While there, she picked out a pink helium balloon. On the way home, she decided it would be a good idea to use the balloon to send a "message" to Paw Paw in heaven. (He passed away 3 years ago.) She spent the remainder of the afternoon coloring a picture out of one of her coloring books to send to her grandfather. When Kevin got home, he helped her tie the picture to the balloon and they took it outside to let it go. I hope you got Kellynn's message, Paw Paw! We sure miss you!

I am a mother, wife and full-time teacher, with a very sassy little girl (daughter 1) on my hands and another one following in her footsteps (daughter 2). And I wonder where the gray hairs are coming from?
