A Sad Day...
Today is a sad day because it's my last day of summer vacation. I officially go back to work tomorrow. In years past, I have always looked forward to going back to teaching. A new school year, a new class, a refreshed body and mind...
Not this time.
Don't get me wrong. I have enjoyed my summer and feel quite refreshed. It's just that today is my last day to be home with my baby girl, Ella Ruby. Right now, she's napping - otherwise, I'd be holding her (probably with tears in my eyes). I've held her much of the day, so far. I've told her over and over again how much I love her and how much I'm going to miss her tomorrow. I wish I could stay at home, but it's just not possible. It hurts my heart.
PS - I know she will be in good hands while I am at work. Maw Maw Billie (Kevin's mom) retired in July and will keep her for us. Ella will surely be spoiled. Like my grandmother told me once - a spoiled child is a loved child. I won't have to worry about her. But I'm still sad...

Random Thoughts
Ella Ruby is cutting two bottom teeth at 4 months old! K Bugg didn't cut her first tooth until she was 8 months! I forgot how much "fun" teething can be. Ella has been on the fussy side for days. She is also not sleeping as well - I'm guessing because she is uncomfortable. Hopefully, her teeth will come in soon and she will be happy again.
On another note...K bugg made us laugh yesterday. She was up to her usual "showing off" antics while friends were visiting. I think she pulled out every toy she owned to showcase its beauty and demonstrate her skillful abilities while using them. In the process, she made the mother of messes in her room. After our friends left, Kevin wanted to go look at a 64 Galaxie that was for sale. We decided to go with him to get out of the house for awhile. When we returned home, K Bugg said (as she's running to her room), "I'm going to see if God cleaned up my room while I was gone." "What?" I asked. She then replied, "I prayed for him to clean my room while I was gone." That girl is too funny! Had I known, I would have put in my request for clean laundry and a clean bathroom!

K-Bugg or Madonna?
If you walked into the bathroom and found your 4 year old looking like this, would you be concerned?! Last night, Kevin put K-Bugg in the tub for a bath. She likes to play for a while in the water before washing. When Kevin went back to check on her, he found her with suction cups on her chest. She found them on the back of a bathtub toy. It usually hangs on the shower wall. He immediately called me in, laughing hysterically. We HAD to take a picture. How else will we embarrass her at 21 years of age?
Four Months
"Awwww Yeah! I did it!" (turning over on her own)
Ella turned 4 months old on July 30th. Because we have been out of town, her 4 month check up was scheduled for today. She now weighs 15 pounds and 9 ounces. She has also grown 2 inches in two months. She is in the 90th percentile in both weight and height. The pediatrician said Ella is advanced with her gross motor skills and is more like a 6 month old. She said she is very strong and will probably walk early. She mentioned it is probably due to having an older sibling to keep up with. (Have I mentioned how well K-Bugg is doing as a big sister? She loves Ella to pieces! I am so proud of her.) Anyway, Ella also got shots today, so she is fussy now. Hopefully the Tylenol will start working soon.
Milestones met this month:
* Rolling over both ways (8/1/06)
* Laughing out loud - She actually started laughing last month, but has now perfected this skill. She laughs and smiles all the time.
* Reaching and grasping for objects; passing objects from one hand to the other
* Squeals; makes "bubbles" and bubble sounds
* Bears weight on her legs
* Keeps head level when pulled to a sitting position
* Beginning solid foods

So Much To Tell - So Little Time
Wow! It's been awhile since I've posted. We have been pretty busy around here. I am finally getting a chance to sit down and catch up on everything. Where do I begin? Let's see...
Two weeks ago, one of my closest friends - Kerry, came to NC for a visit. She and I met in Virginia Beach, VA almost ten years ago. Now she lives in Pittsburgh, PA. We had a great time keeping 3 kids entertained! It's funny when looking back at how we used to spend our time together (in VA - BEFORE children). Go to the beach - go to "Sully's" (O'Sullivan's), go to karaoke at Chi Chi's, go shopping, go to the "Corner Pub," go to work (we worked together at Bennigans), etc. How our lives have changed! But Kerry said something to me while visiting...Even though we don't get to see one another every day, when we DO get together - it's like no time has passed. That's true friendship! Here are a couple of photos of K-Bugg and Ethan, Kerry's son.
I have lots to share, but hear a crying baby I must tend to. More to come...
